Kicks, a variety dance band from San Diego has had tremendous success since its inception in 1981. Playing a variety of music spanning 6 decades has always been a key to their success. They started in the early 80′s working full time in the clubs of southern California. In the mid-80′s the band branched out into the casino circuit in Nevada and also corporate events for some of the largest companies in the world.
Kicks has had a large gain in popularity over the last decade. Many got to know this dynamic group from its run at the San Diego Marriott & Marina. From 1994 to 2001 when not performing private functions, Kicks was the house band at the Marriott.
Kicks is a multi-sized group from 2 to 12 pieces. The full size group features 3 female vocalists and a live horn section. Also unprecedented is that 6 out of the 12 members are outstanding “Lead” vocalists, which makes for incredibly great harmonies. Over 150,000 have enjoyed a Kicks performance over the years, and your event with this band is a sure guarantee of a great time for all!
"At this point, Kicks has performed at both of my daughter’s weddings and also my nephew’s. Each time has been amazing. Their music keeps everyone dancing through the evening with a great music selection, killer harmonies and overall musicianship. The time between music for cake cutting, garter throwing, etc. is all handled smoothly and professionally. In addition, dealing with Gary in advance of the wedding is a real joy. "Honestly was a bit nervous about having a band at my wedding as opposed to a DJ, but Kicks1 was the ABSOLUTE BEST!! The dance floor was PACKED the whole time, they played a GREAT variety of oldies but goodies and new “today” dance music to appeal to all ages, and they never let the music “lull”! They were energetic, entertaining, and engaging, not mention they have great voices and musical talent. I can’t speak highly enough of this band’s performance and professionalism – they’re affordable too! Thanks for a memorable wedding!"
"We had the Kicks play at our wedding and we couldn’t have been happier. We knew we wanted our guests to have the best time on their feet dancing all night and the Kicks really performed! It can be hard to please the various ages of wedding guests but every single one of our guests (from teenage, to my grandma) enjoyed the music. Even to this day, we still get compliments on our band and asked how we found them and we are SO glad everyone had a great time dancing. Also, the band did a great job of sounding authentic and a couple times, I had thought the songs were DJ’ed but when I looked up on the stage, I noticed the singers were singing the songs!! They sang our father/daughter dance and my dad kept saying how he great the band was. Also, Gary did a great job as an MC for the whole night. Also, a bonus is the price we payed- what a great band for our buck!!! You will not be disappointed with Kicks!"
